2x All-NBA Star Shares Thoughts on Luka Doncic and LeBron James Following Trade

Former NBA All-Star DeMarcus Cousins shared his thoughts on the potential pairing of LeBron James and Luka Doncic on the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Lakers made a bold move at the NBA trade deadline, securing superstar guard Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks. While many are questioning the Mavericks’ decision, the Lakers are excited to add a player of Doncic’s caliber to their roster.

LeBron James has played with numerous star players throughout his career, but Doncic could ultimately prove to be the best. The 25-year-old guard has made the All-NBA First Team five years in a row and could be the ideal complement to an aging James.
LeBron and Luka are expected to form a remarkable duo, one of the most talented pairings in the league’s history. DeMarcus Cousins, an 11-year NBA veteran and former New Orleans Pelicans All-Star, discussed the trade and emphasized the potential of their partnership.

“I think LeBron just became the number two, and I think LeBron is fine with that,” Cousins said. “Clearly, this move is aimed at securing their future, as you can tell by the pieces they’re assembling around them… They’re preparing for the future, but they’ll also make the most of Luka’s talent and LeBron’s while they still can… I think LeBron’s best years were when they had a 1A, 1B type of setup… I believe the Lakers will find success.”

In acquiring Doncic, the Lakers have likely traded Anthony Davis to better position themselves for the post-LeBron era. However, adding a superstar like Luka will also help them contend for championships in the present. A James-Doncic duo is built for a deep playoff run, and their future surrounding the former Mavericks star looks incredibly promising.
