Detroit Lions

David Montgomery’s prediction for Super Bowl 59 is sure to excite Lions fans.

As Super Bowl 59 approaches this week, the Detroit Lions and their supporters are likely still reflecting on what could have been during this past season.

After an incredible run that secured the Lions the top NFC seed, Detroit ultimately fell short of achieving their ultimate goal.

Even though the sting of the NFC Divisional Round loss still lingers, it hasn’t stopped the Lions from enjoying the events in New Orleans. Running back David Montgomery was among those taking part in the festivities and made time for the media.

Montgomery sat down with FanSided’s Ian McMillan from Stacking the Box and Malcolm Harris-Gowdie to chat about a variety of topics, including Super Bowl 59 and his ongoing partnership with Scouting.

When asked about his Super Bowl prediction, Montgomery quickly made it clear who he’s rooting for. His answer was simple, direct, and unambiguous:

“My team on Sunday is the Detroit Lions and I don’t care who wins.”

Given a chance to make a prediction, Montgomery chose not to. This reflected the running back’s intense focus on his own team’s future rather than the outcome of the big game. And who can blame him?

The only goal on his mind is bringing a championship to the Lions.

Montgomery also discussed his recovery from last year’s injury and shared his thoughts on what the Lions need to do to secure a Super Bowl victory.

He emphasized the importance of finishing games, believing that if they can accomplish that, they are not far from winning a championship.

Taking a moment to talk about Scouting, Montgomery reflected on how valuable his relationship with the organization has been and how it shaped his childhood.

Lastly, Montgomery spoke highly of his teammate Jahmyr Gibbs, calling him “super special” and mentioning how great it has been to share the backfield with him. He noted how the two of them complement each other, keeping each other fresh throughout the season.

Here’s hoping the 2025 season brings even greater success for Montgomery and the Lions as they strive to finish what they started.
