Report: Lakers Expressed Interest in Nets Center

The Los Angeles Lakers secured their big man on Wednesday night by acquiring Mark Williams from the Charlotte Hornets.

Many Lakers fans were thrilled with the addition of Williams, believing he could significantly strengthen the team’s frontcourt.

However, according to Erik Slater, Williams wasn’t the only player the Lakers had their eyes on.

Slater mentioned that the Lakers had shown interest in Nic Claxton of the Brooklyn Nets.

Ultimately, the Lakers had to pay a reasonable price to land Williams, but they gained a star who is younger than the departing Dalton Knecht, which means he could remain with the team for the long haul.

The Lakers did consider Nic Claxton but chose to spend a hefty pick on Williams, who they could match with the salaries of Knecht and Reddish while retaining their veterans.

Williams, who is nearly two years younger than Claxton, offers more size but has had trouble staying healthy.
