No NFL quarterback encountered the Philadelphia Eagles’ defense as frequently as Jayden Daniels this season. The Washington Commanders quarterback has some advice for the Kansas City Chiefs on how to overcome that unit in Super Bowl 59.
Daniels faced the Eagles three times during his outstanding rookie season, including in the NFC Championship Game. Though he won one game and lost two, experiencing both success and struggles, he believes he has identified the key to breaking through Philadelphia’s defense.
In an interview with Dianna Russini on The Athletic’s “Scoop City” podcast, Daniels emphasized the importance of neutralizing the Eagles’ defensive front. “No matter how you do it, you have to find a way to counter their defensive line,” he explained. “Jalen Carter, in particular, is a major factor, so slowing him down is crucial. That’s how you handle elite players—limit their impact and focus on completing passes. The Eagles thrive on forcing negative plays.”
