Champion League Manchester City Real Madrid

Guardiola Talks Real Madrid Battle – “I’m Focused on Beating Them”

Manchester City are gearing up for a pivotal stretch in their season, with two major fixtures coming up in quick succession.

Manager Pep Guardiola is determined to keep his players focused as they first face Leyton Orient in the FA Cup on Saturday, followed by a tough Champions League match against Real Madrid.

While it’s tempting for fans to look ahead to the big European tie, Guardiola is resolute in not underestimating Leyton Orient.
Guardiola’s view on Real Madrid

After their FA Cup match, City will quickly return to Manchester to begin preparations for their Champions League clash.

The manager has emphasized that overcoming Real Madrid remains a top priority for him and his coaching team.

“We’ll be back in Manchester right after the game and then we’ll have time to start discussing [Real Madrid],” Guardiola explained when asked about the upcoming European match.
“Of course, I have Madrid in mind, but Leyton Orient deserves my full attention. That’s always been my approach.”

“That’s why we’ve reached so many FA Cup semi-finals and finals in recent years. I’m focused and concerned about Leyton Orient,” he added.

Guardiola, who has faced Real Madrid numerous times in his managerial career, knows the tactical challenge of overcoming a team as resilient as Los Blancos.

Challenges for Real Madrid

However, Real Madrid are currently grappling with significant injury problems that could affect the outcome of the first leg. Both Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba, key figures in their defense, will be unavailable for the match.

Their absence leaves Carlo Ancelotti with a relatively inexperienced defensive unit to face Manchester City’s powerful attacking force.

This defensive crisis offers a perfect chance for Guardiola’s team to exploit weaknesses in Madrid’s defense. Yet, given Real Madrid’s ability to perform under pressure, City will need to deliver their best to secure a crucial advantage.
