Dallas Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb Responds to Trade Report

The Dallas Cowboys began the 2024 offseason with considerable speculation about the futures of CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott.

Team owner Jerry Jones extended both players’ contracts before the regular season kicked off. However, the delay in the negotiations prevented the team from freeing up cap space, limiting their ability to make additional moves in free agency to bolster the Cowboys’ roster for a competitive 2024 season.

On Sunday morning, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport reported that the Cowboys had discussed the possibility of trading pass rusher Micah Parsons this spring.

“Parsons, a normally outspoken figure, has kept quiet about the team’s promotion of Brian Schottenheimer after the unexpected departure of head coach Mike McCarthy—a move Parsons called ‘devastating,’” Rapoport stated.

“Though trade talks have not happened, sources indicate that internal discussions have taken place on whether to pay Parsons or trade him for a significant return.”

“If the Cowboys are open to listening, they might receive such an offer. Cowboys COO Stephen Jones told NFL.com in December that the team would assess whether it’s wise to have so much money invested in a few players.

However, he added: ‘I can’t imagine a scenario where he’s not wearing a star on his helmet.’ Parsons is set to earn around $24 million in the fifth-year option of his rookie contract for 2025.

Later on Sunday, Lamb responded to the trade report on his X account.

“Y’all aren’t tired of this? Every offseason, top of the charts,” Lamb tweeted. “Let’s just win ball games and that’s with 11! SMH.”

It’s unclear whether Lamb was frustrated with the reports or with Jones’ offseason drama. Jones purposely prolonged negotiations with Lamb and Parsons for publicity.

That, however, was not the media’s fault.

In any case, Lamb is clearly voicing his opinion to Dallas’ front office, urging them to keep Parsons on the team.
