According to a report from Jordan Schultz, former Detroit Lions quarterback Kellen Moore is expected to become the next head coach of the New Orleans Saints, based on sources close to the situation.
Moore, who played for the Lions from 2012 to 2014, is currently the offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Although an agreement has not yet been reached, Moore is considered the frontrunner for the position. The delay, as reported by Schultz, is due to Moore being unable to meet with the Saints until after Super Bowl 59, where the Eagles will face the Kansas City Chiefs. Once the game concludes, the Saints and Moore are anticipated to finalize the deal.
Moore’s NFL career began with the Lions in 2012 when he signed as an undrafted free agent from Boise State. Though he didn’t see action in any regular season games during his time in Detroit, he served as a backup to Matthew Stafford and spent three years with the team before transitioning to coaching roles.
His success as the Eagles’ offensive coordinator has now earned him this chance to lead a franchise, with Saints fans eagerly awaiting his formal appointment.
