Dallas Cowboys Welcome Former AFC North Coach as Part of Brian Schottenheimer’s Staff
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Dallas Cowboys are in the process of bringing Ken Dorsey on board as their pass-game specialist.
NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo report that the Cowboys are finalizing a deal to hire Dorsey, who previously served as the offensive coordinator for both the Buffalo Bills and the Cleveland Browns. While the hiring isn’t official yet, Dorsey is expected to join Brian Schottenheimer’s coaching staff soon.
Dorsey, 43, was most recently with the Browns, where he was hired as offensive coordinator in February 2024. However, his tenure was short-lived, as Cleveland parted ways with him after just one season. The Browns struggled offensively, finishing with a 3-14 record and ranking among the league’s worst offenses, averaging only 300.8 yards per game—fifth lowest in the NFL.
Before his time in Cleveland, Dorsey spent nearly five seasons with the Buffalo Bills under head coach Sean McDermott. During his tenure, he held multiple roles, including quarterbacks coach, passing game coordinator, and offensive coordinator. His coaching career began in 2013 with the Carolina Panthers after playing quarterback for the Miami Hurricanes.
With Dorsey joining, the Cowboys’ coaching staff is beginning to take shape. He will work under new offensive coordinator Klayton Adams, who was previously the offensive line coach for the Arizona Cardinals. Adams spent two seasons in that role before being hired onto Schottenheimer’s staff in Dallas.
The Cowboys are looking to bounce back after a disappointing season in which they struggled offensively. In nine of their 17 games, they failed to score more than 20 points. Their passing attack also faltered, with four of their last six games featuring fewer than 200 passing yards. A key factor in their struggles was the absence of quarterback Dak Prescott, who played only eight games before undergoing surgery for a hamstring injury.
