Amon-Ra St. Brown Sparks Controversy with Eagles vs. Lions Remark

The Detroit Lions excelled in passing, running, and tackling their way to the top spot in the NFC North during the 2024 NFL regular season, despite facing nearly 20 injuries and ultimately losing 45-31 to the Washington Commanders in the Divisional Round.

On Wednesday, Lions star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown was joined by his brothers Osiris and Equanimeous on the St. Brown Podcast, where the subject of the 2025 NFL season opener was discussed.

The St. Brown brothers mentioned a list of teams for the potential opening game, and Amon-Ra St. Brown noted that there’s a strong possibility he and coach Dan Campbell’s Lions could face off against the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field.

“You don’t want that smoke,” said Equanimeous St. Brown to Amon-Ra as he talked about the possibility of playing the Eagles in the opening game of 2025.

The three brothers agreed that the Lions were likely to face Philadelphia, which prompted an eyebrow-raising comment from Equanimeous.

“You could really see what could’ve happened in the NFC Championship, not really, but like…” said Equanimeous St. Brown.

“Yeah, with a healthy defense…Their team’s not going to change much, I mean it might change a little,” Amon-Ra St. Brown replied.

“But I’m saying, you would see with our healthy defense, how that (expletive) operates,” he continued, referring to 13 players being injured on the Lions’ defense.

Fans quickly jumped into the comments, defending their respective teams and igniting a war of words.

“I do believe a healthy Lions team would’ve won the bowl,” one fan commented. “They were missing their best player (Aidan Hutchinson) all season.”

“Gonna file this under (expletive) around and find out,” said another fan. “Will revisit after they get stomped by the Eagles.”

“Eagles will beat the kitties,” another fan added.

“Homie…you lost before getting to the finals so maybe you guys are not the real team,” said another. “They just won the Super Bowl.”

“I love you Amon-Ra but you’ve gotta chill a bit,” another comment read.

“Let’s make it happen,” one reader said in the comment section.
