On the St. Brown Podcast, Detroit Lions star receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown took a jab at Philly, claiming the Lions would have beaten the Eagles in the NFC Championship Game if their defense had been healthy.
Detroit was without several key defensive starters before their Divisional Round loss to the Washington Commanders, including star pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson.
However, the Commanders dominated the Lions at Ford Field and moved on to face the Eagles the following week.
There are many intriguing possibilities for the NFL’s Week 1 matchup when Philadelphia raises its championship banner at Lincoln Financial Field, including games against the Lions, Commanders, or even Caleb Williams’ Chicago Bears.
Given recent trends, the league could schedule a heavyweight clash like Eagles-Lions to open the season.
The past two years have seen the Kansas City Chiefs face the Lions and Ravens in their season openers, making a similar matchup for Philly a realistic possibility.
