The Detroit Lions dominated the NFC for most of the 2024 regular season. Fueled by an explosive offense, they finished with a 15-2 record and secured the conference’s top seed for the playoffs.
However, their reign ended abruptly in the postseason when they suffered a home loss to the Commanders in their first playoff game.
With back-to-back dominant wins in the NFC Championship and Super Bowl, the Philadelphia Eagles have now taken over as the NFC’s top team.
Amon-Ra St. Brown is eager for the Lions to reclaim their spot. On the February 12 episode of the St. Brown Podcast, he made it clear that he wants Detroit to open the 2025 season against the Eagles to prove how things could have played out had the Lions been fully healthy.
“You would see with our healthy defense how that (expletive) operates,” St. Brown said. Looking at the Eagles’ 2025 home schedule, a matchup with the Lions makes perfect sense.
Philadelphia will also host three other playoff teams, but none offer the intrigue of a rematch between these two squads, who last met in Week 1 of the 2022 season.
One of the Lions’ top players is all in. The Eagles will likely embrace the idea once they hear St. Brown’s comments.
Fans would be thrilled at the chance to see a potential NFC Championship preview right at the start of the season.
