Luka Doncic shares honest thoughts after Lakers’ lopsided loss

Luka Doncic played a key role in the Los Angeles Lakers’ easy victory over the Utah Jazz in his debut on Monday. However, the Jazz turned the tables on Wednesday, blowing out the Lakers 131-119 at Delta Center. Doncic only played 23 minutes in this game, scoring 16 points on 6-of-13 shooting, along with four rebounds, four assists, a steal, a block, three three-pointers, and five turnovers. It wasn’t enough to prevent a heavy loss for the Lakers, who were handed a surprising defeat by a Jazz team that improved to 13-40 after Wednesday’s win.

Following the disappointing loss, Doncic spoke candidly with reporters about his physical state during the game. “I felt a little bit rusty today,” he admitted. “It’s only my second game back after the injury. I had turnovers, missed free throws, and I need to do better.”

Doncic also mentioned he was looking forward to the All-Star break, which he sees as a “mental rest.” “I think we can go very far, but today I felt a little rusty.”

It’s worth noting that Doncic will not be participating in the upcoming All-Star Weekend after not being selected for the event. This might actually be beneficial for the 25-year-old, who recently made a high-profile trade from the Dallas Mavericks. The Lakers won’t play again until Wednesday, Feb. 19, allowing Doncic a full week of rest before his next game.
