It’s not over yet for Detroit Lions fans dreaming of a Maxx Crosby trade from the Las Vegas Raiders.
It’s well known that Lions fans would love to see defensive end Maxx Crosby in Detroit. Even though Crosby often talks about staying in Vegas, those hopes never seem to die. Now, Lions supporters have a new reason to believe the idea of bringing Crosby to the Motor City might not be so far-fetched.
Once again, Crosby is being discussed as a possible trade target, hinting that his future in Las Vegas may be more uncertain than expected.
Raiders Could Accelerate Rebuild by Trading Maxx Crosby
NFL insiders Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport recently released a February 9 feature highlighting pass rushers who could be part of a “wild 2025 offseason.” Crosby was among those named.
While they acknowledge Crosby’s commitment to being a “Raider for life,” they also point out several reasons he could be moved. Crosby has openly expressed frustration with the team’s constant changes and lack of success. As a player who wants to win and be a key contributor, Crosby could be ready for a new opportunity.
They note that the addition of new head coach Pete Carroll could bring some stability to the Raiders, but the team still needs a franchise quarterback and a serious roster overhaul. “Trading Crosby for a haul of draft picks could fast-track that process,” they suggest, adding that Crosby might welcome the move—especially to a playoff contender like Green Bay.
Though Green Bay is listed as a favorite landing spot, Detroit could still be in the mix. If Crosby is made available, Lions GM Brad Holmes would likely explore bringing the Michigan native back home.
Crosby, a product of Eastern Michigan, has two years and around $44 million remaining on the contract extension he signed in 2022. That Michigan connection only makes the idea of him joining the Lions more appealing.
Crosby Considered a Possible Lions Trade Target
Pelissero and Rapoport aren’t alone in believing Crosby could be on the move. On February 11, Brad Berreman of SideLion Report also named Crosby as a potential trade target for Detroit.
Berreman notes that trading for Crosby would come at a steep price, given he has two years left on his deal. However, if Crosby were to request a trade, Berreman believes the Raiders might be more open to moving him than the Browns are with Myles Garrett.
Adding to the speculation, Crosby’s positive mentions of Detroit sports have fueled rumors. On February 9, following a Detroit Pistons victory over the Hornets, Crosby posted on X about how great it was to see the Pistons “ballin’ again.” His comment about bringing back that Bad Boys vibe in Detroit only stoked further trade talk.
