Travis Kelce cites motivation and personal well-being as key factors in potential retirement decision.

Travis Kelce is reflecting on his future following a Super Bowl loss.

The star tight end sat down with his brother Jason for a post-Super Bowl episode of their New Heights podcast on Wednesday. Among the topics discussed were Travis’ future and whether he’s considering retirement.

“I’m going to take some time to figure it out,” said Kelce, who will turn 36 early in the 2025 season. “I owe it to my teammates to make a wholehearted decision if I come back. I won’t half-ass it. I’ll be fully committed to them.

“I know I can still play, but it’s about whether I’m motivated and if it’s the best choice for me personally to take on that responsibility.”

Kelce, who also apologized to Chiefs fans for his performance in the Super Bowl loss to the Eagles, has little left to prove in his career.

He’s a three-time Super Bowl champion, a 10-time Pro Bowler, and holds several NFL tight end records, including most receiving yards in a season and consecutive 1,000-yard seasons.

In tight end history, he ranks third in receptions and yards and fifth in touchdowns.

Kelce, now one of the NFL’s most marketable players, has several off-field ventures, including his podcast, film roles, hosting a game show, a beer brand, and his high-profile relationship with music icon Taylor Swift.

Kelce did not announce a final decision, leaving quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs waiting along with the rest of the football world.
