Bills Josh Allen is in Danger of Becoming the Next Best QB to Never Win a Super Bowl

Josh Allen and the Bills Risk Becoming the Next Great QB to Miss a Super Bowl

The Buffalo Bills defeated the Detroit Lions, but one player’s actions with Josh Allen may end up costing him.

Super Bowl Sunday was a tough day for many Buffalo Bills fans, who watched the Kansas City Chiefs play once again in a game they had dreamed of joining since 1994.

The positive news for Buffalo fans is that Kansas City lost to the Philadelphia Eagles 40-22, preventing Patrick Mahomes from securing his fourth Super Bowl victory and the first NFL franchise to win three Super Bowls consecutively.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts claimed his first Super Bowl ring, making him the second young quarterback from this era, alongside Mahomes, to capture the title.

Although Hurts isn’t considered a top-five quarterback, he played an essential role in the Eagles’ win, and they couldn’t have secured the victory without him.

Three quarterbacks, viewed by fans as on par with Mahomes, include Lamar Jackson (Baltimore Ravens), Joe Burrow (Cincinnati Bengals), and Josh Allen (Buffalo Bills).

All three are under 30, and only Burrow, in his second season, made it to the Super Bowl in 2021.

Currently, Burrow, Jackson, and Allen are on potential Hall of Fame paths, but none of them want to join the ranks of former Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino, regarded as the greatest quarterback without a Super Bowl win.

Joe Burrow

Though Joe Burrow has reached the Super Bowl, his chances of winning it all are slim.

The Bengals compete in the AFC North, the toughest division in football, with playoff regulars like the Ravens and Steelers.

Burrow threw for 4,918 yards and 43 touchdowns this season but still missed the playoffs.

Cincinnati’s roster has multiple gaps, and owner Mike Brown hasn’t shown a willingness to spend on retaining top-tier talent.

The Bengals appear reluctant to take the necessary steps to win a Super Bowl, and Burrow may have to leave for a shot at a ring.

Lamar Jackson

Lamar Jackson is in a strong position to win a Super Bowl, as the Ravens boast a Super Bowl-winning coach in John Harbaugh and a culture of success.

Baltimore will eventually figure it out with Jackson at the helm, as they’ve been close on multiple occasions

Given the Ravens’ ability to draft and develop players, they will likely secure their third Super Bowl, with Jackson leading them to glory.

I’m confident Jackson will win a Super Bowl, but I have concerns about Josh Allen.

Josh Allen

Allen, widely regarded as the top quarterback in the NFL, has yet to make a Super Bowl appearance, and much of this is beyond his control.

The 28-year-old has performed admirably over the last six playoff seasons but continues to fall short.

Whenever the Bills need a critical stop in a playoff game against Kansas City, they never get it, and it’s hard to imagine that changing.

Buffalo hasn’t earned the trust of fans during the postseason. They’ve never won a Super Bowl, and head coach Sean McDermott lacks the big-game experience that Harbaugh has, who won with a different roster.

McDermott, a former Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator in Super Bowl 50, hasn’t led the Bills to a championship game.

The roster has flaws, especially in the secondary and defensive line, and the receiving corps lacks a few star players.

General manager Brandon Beane’s recent first-round picks should worry Bills fans. His selections of cornerback Kaiir Elam and tight end Dalton Kincaid have been underwhelming.

The Bills Need More Help for Allen

Making successful first-round picks is crucial to surrounding Allen with the talent needed for a Super Bowl push. Look at what the Chiefs have done, drafting key players like cornerback Trent McDuffie, defensive end George Karlaftis, and wide receiver Xavier Worthy, who have all contributed to the team’s success.

Allen needs more help from his teammates for the Bills to win a Super Bowl, and the franchise’s ability to deliver that support remains in question.

The AFC is not becoming easier to navigate. The Chiefs remain dominant, the Ravens are formidable, the Bengals can win at any time, and the Denver Broncos now have a Super Bowl-winning coach in Sean Payton, plus a promising rookie quarterback, Bo Nix. The Los Angeles Chargers also have an excellent coach in Jim Harbaugh and a star quarterback in Justin Herbert.

With the AFC becoming more competitive, if Buffalo’s roster doesn’t improve, Allen will struggle to overcome these strong teams in the coming years.
