FRISCO – Dallas Cowboys fans were left disappointed last offseason as the team failed to make significant moves in free agency. The much-hyped “all-in” approach never materialized, leaving Dallas ill-equipped for the challenging 2024 schedule, which ended in a disappointing 7-10 record. While injuries played a role, it was the lack of offseason action that frustrated fans the most.

On Thursday, star linebacker Micah Parsons refrained from blaming anyone directly but urged the organization to be more proactive.

“I want us to be aggressive and bring in impact players,” Parsons stated. “Retaining our own key players is just as important. Let’s see what we can do.”

His remarks caught the attention of ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, a well-known critic of the Cowboys. During Friday’s episode of First Take, Smith responded to Parsons’ comments with a blunt reaction.

“Micah Parsons, and I say this with love, I need this man to be quiet,” Smith said. “I really do. I need him to be quiet.”

Smith argued that Parsons’ outspoken approach could interfere with his upcoming contract extension negotiations.

“I want you to secure your money, bro,” Smith added. “I’ve seen athletes hurt their financial standing through poor performance, but this man is risking his money just by speaking his mind. I respect it, but we’re talking about Jerry Jones here.”

Parsons has already expressed his willingness to take a pay cut if it means the Cowboys can land Myles Garrett. While Smith’s financial concerns are valid, they overlook the bigger picture—Parsons is focused on making Dallas a championship contender.

Last summer, the Cowboys waited until the last moment to finalize deals for Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb. While Parsons’ situation could unfold differently, the team’s history suggests otherwise.

Parsons’ passion sometimes takes him to extremes, but his commitment to winning—especially with the Cowboys—is undeniable. For Dallas to truly compete, the front office must take an aggressive approach this offseason.

That alone won’t guarantee a championship, but Parsons and Cowboys fans are hoping to see real effort from the organization.
