Anthony Davis is considered one of the greatest players in NBA history.
Naturally, fans of any team acquiring him would expect a lot of excitement.
So when you see that Dallas Mavericks fans are upset with GM Nico Harrison for pursuing him, it makes you question whether the team made the right move. However, when asked about the trade, Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic expressed that both teams emerged as winners in the deal (via Legion Hoops & Duvalier Johnson).
Jokic, known for offering simple responses and not paying much attention to league matters, likely gave a standard answer and was ready to move on with his day.
Luka Doncic, who is six years younger than Anthony Davis, saw the latter suffer an injury in his Mavs debut. The Mavericks only received one first-round pick in exchange for the cornerstone of their team, the player they had built their roster around.
While Davis is undeniably talented, his career has been plagued by injury issues.
Despite the Mavericks needing to improve their size and defense, it’s hard to believe they couldn’t have gotten more value from another team.
Only time will tell, and the situation could turn out differently than expected, but for now, the Lakers seem to have come out on top in this controversial deal.
