“There’s a lot happening behind the scenes that will come out soon,” Hardaway shared on SiriusXM NBA Radio. “I’ve heard many things, but I’m not going to guess because I’m not sure if they’re true, though I suspect they could be.”
The trade saw the Lakers acquiring Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber, and Markieff Morris. In a three-team deal, the Utah Jazz obtained Jalen Hood-Schifino and a 2025 second-round pick from the Mavericks and Lakers. The trade shocked many, including Mavericks coach Jason Kidd, who described his reaction as “shock.” Lakers GM Rob Pelinka called the move a pivotal moment for the franchise.
“Luka is an extraordinary, young global icon who will lead this team for years,” Pelinka stated. “His competitive drive and dedication to winning championships will be the team’s foundation.”
