Browns and Lions’ Myles Garrett trade proposal is a realistic option but lacks crucial elements

Myles Garrett trade proposal between Browns and Lions offers a realistic option but still falls short

The rumors surrounding Myles Garrett have quieted, but with the NFL combine approaching, the Browns and Lions could discuss potential deals.

Jared Mueller, a lifelong Browns fan from Sandusky, Ohio, serves as the producer for Dawgs By Nature and has covered the Cleveland Browns for over a decade, including at FanSided, The OBR, and USA Today.

Numerous trade proposals for Garrett have been suggested, but most fail to hit the mark. Considering the salary cap implications and the team’s roster, Cleveland needs a compelling offer to move forward with a deal.

To simplify, Cleveland would receive two first-round picks, move up two rounds (from the 5th to the 3rd this year), and drop one round (from the 2nd to the 3rd) in 2026. Martin, who was a third-round pick in 2023, has appeared in only five games over two seasons.

The main issue with this trade proposal from the Lions is the likely positioning of their picks. Both first-round picks are expected to fall closer to the second round than the top 10, especially with Garrett joining Aidan Hutchinson as he recovers from injury.

The 28th and 32nd picks are not ideal returns for a top-tier pass rusher, but they do give the Browns the assets needed to become competitive quickly.
