Former Toledo Mud Hens outfielder Trayce Thompson is aiming for a major league comeback with a new team this spring.
On Monday, the Red Sox announced they had signed Thompson to a minor league deal, allowing him to finish spring training with their major league squad.
Thompson played 25 games for the Mud Hens in 2022, posting a .299 batting average with eight home runs but did not receive a call-up to the Tigers. His time with Detroit ended that June when the Dodgers acquired his contract.
He went on to play 74 games for Los Angeles that season and split the following year between the Dodgers and White Sox, appearing in 72 games. In 2024, he spent the season in the minor league systems of the Mets and Cubs.
Over seven major league seasons, Thompson has played 369 games across five different teams.
He is also the brother of Dallas Mavericks guard Klay Thompson.
