Dan Campbell’s Detroit Lions Earn High Playoff Ranking, Just Behind Philadelphia Eagles
The Detroit Lions did not achieve their Super Bowl LIX ambitions last season, and then saw the Philadelphia Eagles defeat the reigning champion Kansas City Chiefs to claim the Lombardi Trophy.
Coach Dan Campbell’s press conference following the playoffs featured tears as the ex-Lions tight end felt a surge of emotion after Detroit’s defeat to the Washington Commanders.
After the defeat, several analysts indicated that the Lions’ opportunity for a championship might be nearing its end.
Based on a recent accolade from Pro Football Focus, the Lions’ opportunity for playoff success is wider than ever as they approach the 2025 professional football season.
“The teams featuring the highest number of players on the PFF 101,” Pro Football Focus stated on Saturday with a “stock up” chart emoji. Campbell’s Lions placed second in the NFL with nine players on the top 101 list, two players fewer than Nick Sirianni’s Eagles in first place.
Harbaugh’s Chargers feature five players, Reid’s Kansas City Chiefs have five players as well, and Shanahan’s San Francisco 49ers also include five players.
The Lions’ top spot on the list reflects the talent of Campbell’s healthy roster, which is an encouraging indication as we approach the fall 2025 NFL season and Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco on February 8, 2026, in the Bay Area.
