Hutchinson Dismisses Worries About Lions Losing Coordinators

The Detroit Lions have appointed two new coordinators, John Morton and Kelvin Sheppard, who are now responsible for continuing to develop the young talent on the team.

They face a challenging task, but they have the advantage of working with a motivated, youthful roster that aligns well with the strong culture established by Dan Campbell and the front office.

Some have voiced concerns about the 2025 NFL season due to the changes within the coaching staff. Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn gained the respect of the players and consistently developed young talent, contributing to Detroit’s best season ever last year. After a tough loss in the NFC Championship game in 2023, Campbell’s squad achieved a remarkable 15-2 record during the 2024 regular season.

During an appearance on “The Squeeze” podcast, defensive end Aidan Hutchinson minimized the impact of losing Glenn and Johnson, both of whom became first-time NFL head coaches.

“I don’t care who they bring in. Obviously, we all want to keep Dan (Campbell) here. But coordinators and position coaches, it doesn’t matter. As long as we have the right guys in the locker room and the core players on offense and defense, anyone can be brought in to call the plays,” Hutchinson said.

“At the end of the day, it’s the playmakers who make the difference on Sundays. As long as we maintain our core group, we’ll stay in this window of success.”
