Lakers NBA

Following the Lakers’ dominant 23-point win against the Nuggets, JJ Redick gave an inspiring talk to the players in the locker room.

JJ Redick might be the ideal head coach for the Los Angeles Lakers, considering his post-game locker room speech after their victory over the Denver Nuggets.

The Lakers secured a significant win by beating the Nuggets 123-100 on the road last night. The Nuggets have eliminated the Lakers from the playoffs in consecutive seasons, but under JJ Redick’s leadership, the Lakers have already defeated the reigning champions twice in the regular season.

Redick’s passion for basketball is clearly resonating with the Lakers players. It’s evident how much this success means to him, especially after the Lakers shared his stirring post-game speech following the win over the Nuggets on social media.

“This morning, we talked about going to war – being ready to leave it all on the court. I was so fired up today, I should’ve been able to sleep. I couldn’t sleep last night, I was awake until 5 AM. I couldn’t even nap today.”

“Before the game, I’m lying on the floor, doing breathing exercises, and visualizing what our team would look like. And you guys went above and beyond. You took it even higher. Honestly, our commitment and our belief in the gameplan were incredible.”

“The bench was fantastic. Everyone contributed. Luka, great to have you back. First-team all-defense. Rui, Vando, Doe, Bron, all of you guys who guarded Jokic – you were outstanding.”

“One last thing, we’ve talked all season about our beliefs and convictions. I hope you enjoyed that. If we keep playing that hard for the rest of the regular season, we’ll be just fine. That performance should strengthen your belief. It certainly boosted my belief in what we can achieve. That was amazing.”

JJ Redick has the Lakers’ locker room in sync. With a 14-4 record over the past 14 games, they have the best record in the NBA during this span.

What’s remarkable is that the Lakers arguably made the most changes to their roster after the trade deadline, losing their defensive anchor, Anthony Davis, and acquiring an injured Luka Doncic earlier this month.

Despite losing Davis and Doncic struggling in his first few games with the team, the Lakers have continued to win games seamlessly.

JJ Redick Believes Effort Is the NBA’s ‘Cheat Code’ for Success Redick is a highly knowledgeable coach who has shared his insights for years through his podcast before taking the Lakers job. Even though he values analytics, Redick recently revealed that there’s only one real “cheat code” for winning NBA games: effort.

“The only true cheat code in the NBA is playing hard. If you play hard every night, you’ve got a chance to win. If you don’t play hard, you’re probably going to lose… Playing hard gives you a chance to win every time.”

Redick has proven this principle by getting the most out of his players, emphasizing hard work at all times.

Even without a traditional center or rim protector, the Lakers have posted a defensive rating of 109.9 in February, ranking among the top four in the NBA for the month. This is a marked improvement compared to their season-long defensive rating of 113.9. Now that Redick’s system is ingrained in the team’s core rotation, they are looking dangerous.

If Luka Doncic fully adapts and LeBron James continues to play at his current level, the Lakers could be a serious title contender as early as the 2025 Playoffs.
