Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves was ejected in a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers after receiving his 15th and 16th technical fouls of the season. Consequently, Edwards is facing a one-game suspension for Friday’s matchup against the Utah Jazz, unless the decision is reversed.
Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards could be suspended for one game after his surprising ejection in Thursday’s 111-102 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. The 23-year-old guard was sent off after earning two technical fouls in the third quarter during a heated dispute over a no-call.
Unless overturned, Edwards will miss the Timberwolves’ upcoming game against the Utah Jazz on Friday night.
Though Edwards initially smiled after the ejection, he showed his frustration as he left the court. He threw the ball into the stands, a gesture likely to lead to a fine from the NBA.
In the 2024-25 season, Edwards is averaging 27.5 points, 6 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game, with a shooting percentage of 43.6% from the field and 40% from beyond the arc.
The Timberwolves are currently in the 8th spot in the Western Conference with a record of 32-28.
