The Milwaukee Bucks have been struggling to overcome a slow start to the season. While they’ve shown promise at times, there have been moments of inconsistency that have held them back.
At their best, Milwaukee looks like a legitimate contender, but at times they appear to be a team that could bow out in the first round of the playoffs. Despite these ups and downs, they have continued to fight and this perseverance has brought them closer together as a team.
The Bucks recently suffered a significant setback when forward Bobby Portis was suspended for much of the rest of the regular season, leaving a noticeable gap in the team’s frontcourt and rotation.
Zach Buckley from Bleacher Report recently made some predictions about the buyout market, suggesting that Milwaukee could look to add a center, specifically free agent Mo Bamba.
“The 7-footer never fully realized the potential that made him the No. 6 pick in the 2018 draft, but he still brings an intriguing combination of size, shot-blocking, and floor spacing. He may not be the second coming of Brook Lopez, but he could serve a similar role in spurts next to Giannis Antetokounmpo.
“Bucks fans should not focus too much on Bamba’s draft status. He’s nearing his 27th birthday and if he signs with Milwaukee, it will be his fifth team since the 2022-23 season began. He has yet to become the dominant presence in the paint his size suggests he should be, and his effort level has been inconsistent.”
While Bamba may not be the perfect fit, he could still provide valuable minutes for the Bucks as the season winds down. The former lottery pick has yet to meet the expectations set for him entering the NBA, but he could become a useful piece of the rotation on this Bucks team.
At the very least, Bamba would add depth to the frontcourt, helping to give veteran players more rest as the playoffs approach. This addition could benefit the Bucks significantly, and it’s an opportunity they may want to explore further.
