The Detroit Lions have questions to address along their offensive line this offseason, but Frank Ragnow looks as strong as ever after a standout 2024 season.

The Lions have an opportunity to improve their roster, and while their offense doesn’t have many gaps, the offensive line remains a significant concern.

Detroit may face competition to retain veteran Kevin Zeitler and will need to decide if they want to start guard Christian Mahogany and draft another player to strengthen the interior. One area that has raised questions is the center position, given Frank Ragnow’s age (28) and injury history.

However, Ragnow is coming off a fantastic 2024 campaign. He stayed relatively healthy by his standards and performed excellently, as shown by a recent Pro Football Focus analysis.

Jim Wyman evaluated the top centers in the league, and Ragnow ranked No. 3 with an impressive overall grade of 86.1. A key factor in this was his elite run-blocking ability, even though he faced a tougher year than usual as a pass blocker.

After such a strong season, it’s clear that Ragnow isn’t close to retirement. While his health has been a concern in the past, this analysis proves the Lions can continue to rely on his solid play. There’s no need to create a hole where one doesn’t exist, and the Lions don’t need to rush to draft a center if they’re not ready to make that change.

Although Ragnow may have been disappointed by Detroit’s playoff loss, he made it clear he remains motivated and optimistic about the future. After the defeat, Ragnow shared an encouraging message as he looked ahead to what the next season could bring for the franchise.
