Knicks’ Jalen Brunson Makes History in Battle with Lakers

The New York Knicks faced off against the Los Angeles Lakers in a highly anticipated interconference matchup on Thursday night, delivering an exciting game. The Lakers started strong, but the Knicks managed to claw their way back. Although the Knicks were outscored 23-15 in the fourth quarter, they forced overtime before ultimately falling 113-109. Luka Doncic led the Lakers with 32 points and 12 rebounds, while LeBron James contributed 31 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists. Despite the setback, Brunson’s performance set a new franchise record. His 39 points and 14 assists made him the Knicks’ all-time leader in games with at least 30 points and 10 assists.

Jalen Brunson vs. Lakers: 39 PTS, 10 AST Knicks’ all-time leader in 30/10 games.

Brunson’s accomplishment is impressive, especially given the Knicks’ rich history of talented players. He has solidified his place as one of the NBA’s top point guards while continuing to make history with the franchise. This season, the 28-year-old star is averaging 26.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, 7.4 assists, and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 49.0% from the field and 38.8% from three-point range. Brunson has led the Knicks to the third-best record in the Eastern Conference, positioning them as title contenders alongside Karl-Anthony Towns. Now, the team awaits updates on Brunson’s injury, which may sideline him for Friday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers.
