Cowboys Discover the Updated Trade Demands for D.K. Metcalf

D.K. Metcalf has asked for a trade from the Seattle Seahawks, and it seems the team is open to granting that request.

The main issue – for anyone hoping to see him join CeeDee Lamb on the Dallas Cowboys, or any other team for that matter – is the hefty price tag.

Having those two receivers in Dallas would create one of the most dangerous duos in the NFL.

However, when the initial trade demands from Seattle and Metcalf became clear, the Cowboys, along with other teams, likely stopped dreaming.

Reports first indicated the Seahawks were looking for a first-round and third-round draft pick in exchange for Metcalf. Additionally, D.K. would want a new contract worth about $30 million annually.

That second demand might seem too high.

But the first one certainly is as well.

However, things have changed.

Recent updates suggest that Seattle has now lowered its asking price to just a “second-round pick,” making the trade request more reasonable for Dallas or any other interested team.

Currently, six other receivers – including Lamb – earn over $30 million a year. Those receivers are: Minnesota’s Justin Jefferson, Philadelphia’s A.J. Brown, Detroit’s Amon-Ra St. Brown, Miami’s Tyreek Hill, and San Francisco’s Brandon Aiyuk.

Does Metcalf belong in that elite group? Perhaps. But Cowboys COO Stephen Jones has been careful about “paying twice,” with a new contract and a costly trade.

While it seems unlikely that Metcalf will end up in Dallas, the Cowboys may target another Seattle receiver, Tyler Lockett, who was recently cut. Like D.K., Lockett is a former pupil of Seattle’s ex-offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, now the Cowboys’ head coach. Regardless, Seattle’s revised asking price makes a trade much more feasible.
