Kelly Stafford Shares Her Honest Thoughts on Matthew Stafford Remaining with the Rams

After weeks of speculation about Matthew Stafford’s future, the rumors surrounding his next team have finally quieted down, with the Los Angeles Rams confirming on February 28 that they had reached an agreement to keep the 37-year-old quarterback for the 2025 season.

While Stafford has expressed gratitude about staying in Los Angeles, his wife, Kelly Stafford, seems to be the happiest about the resolution. On the latest episode of her “The Morning After” podcast, Kelly joined her husband to discuss how the offseason drama affected them, while highlighting their relief in moving forward.

“He’s really good at compartmentalizing everything,” she said. “But for me, when he says, ‘You think about the uncertainty all the time, you go crazy,’ I went (expletive) mad… The uncertainty drove me crazy in a lot of ways, but ultimately, what I want is what’s best for [Matthew].”

Kelly also praised Rams head coach Sean McVay, particularly for his approach in navigating what was next for the two-time Pro Bowl quarterback.

“Sean has always been such a good communicator in every aspect,” she said. “I just felt like he wanted to ensure everything was good for everyone, and I was thankful for that.”

Over the past month, Matthew Stafford attracted interest from several potential teams, including the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Giants, but ultimately agreed to restructure his contract with the Rams and remain with them for the upcoming season.
