Cowboys’ Micah Parsons reacts to the unexpected $30 million contract change.

The Dallas Cowboys have pledged to be “selectively aggressive” in NFL free agency, and they have a history of re-signing their own players.

That’s why the news that free agent defensive back Jourdan Lewis is being allowed to leave is significant, as one source inside The Star described it as “stunning.”

So, how does Micah Parsons feel about this?

“Dog!,” Micah posted on X. “Earned for sure! Congrats family def gonna missed!”

A source told CowboysCountry.com that Lewis has accepted an offer from the Jacksonville Jaguars during the Monday “legal tampering period,” with NFL.com reporting that he’s set to become the highest-paid slot corner in the NFL.

The deal is said to be for three years and $30 million.

Lewis, a third-round pick in 2017, has been a great value for the Cowboys throughout his career. Despite facing major injuries, he’s proven himself to be a playmaker, leader, and a player whose talent far exceeds his size at 5-10 and 190 pounds.

But was Dallas willing to triple his salary?

Lewis signed a one-year, $2.8 million contract with the Cowboys last season. Now, as he turns 30 this summer, he’s getting one final big contract opportunity.

“Dallas is my home,” Lewis recently said about his desire to stay. “My kids were born here. We’d love to have another season here, or a few seasons here. My wife loves it. But I know it’s a business…”

And now, more than ever, Micah Parsons – who is also preparing for a deal expected to pay him $40 million per year – understands that, too.
