Back and stronger than ever: Introducing the students competing in Fight Night Liverpool

Did we just spot a Peep Show character and a quizzer from The Chase in this year’s lineup?

Recognized as one of Liverpool’s top student events, Fight Night Liverpool is making its grand return at The Olympia on March 13th, and trust us, it’s set to be an unforgettable night.

For the past five weeks, students from the University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University have been rigorously training in preparation for their big moment in the ring.

This year’s event is dedicated to Ethan Trickett, a third-year dentistry student at the University of Liverpool who tragically passed away while on holiday in Spain. Ethan previously competed in Fight Night 2024.

To honor Ethan’s memory, Fight Night Liverpool is working with the JackTheLad Foundation to raise funds and spread awareness about travel safety for young people.

With additional support from the Liverpool University Dental Students Society (LUDSS), this year’s event carries extra significance, as students aim to pay tribute to Ethan, a beloved member of the Fight Night community.

Through their JustGiving page, over £2,600 has already been raised for the charity chosen by Ethan’s family.

As we prepare for an electrifying night with an important cause, let’s meet this year’s student boxers.

Oisín Kelly vs Elias Torres

Kicking off Fight Night 2025 are two powerhouses from Liverpool John Moores University. Hailing from Cardiff, Oisín Kelly, also known as The Machine, is representing LJMU Boxing Society. With his experience, he’s expected to pack a serious punch.

His opponent, Elias Torres, is stepping into the ring on behalf of LJMU Football. He’s got impressive footwork, but can he match it with his hands? With one Fight Night already under his belt, this fight promises to be an explosive start.

Jack Carroll vs Paddy Higgitt

Next up are two university rivals. Jack Carroll is representing LJMU Gym, aiming to showcase his strength and stamina. Known as The Hijacker, will he be able to steal the show?

Facing him is Paddy “The Daddy” Higgitt, a UoL Engineering Rugby player. With his standout mustache and fierce determination, expectations are high for this matchup. Best of luck to both fighters!

Zapher Inacio vs Henri Hodgson

Get ready for royalty in the ring—Zapher Inacio, aka The Prince, is fighting for LJMU’s African Caribbean Society. With a name like that, he’s aiming to leave his mark.

His opponent, Henri “The Haymaker” Hodgson, represents UoL Rugby. This university rivalry guarantees an intense bout, and fans should brace for some heavy punches.

Ciaran Eastman vs Stefan Suter

UoL Rugby’s Ciaran Eastman, nicknamed The Beast, is ready to take on LJMU Hockey’s Stefan Suter. He’s hoping to bring home a win for Wyncote and prove he’s as formidable in the ring as his nickname suggests.

Stefan, on the other hand, keeps it simple—no flashy nickname, just pure skill. With technical precision and solid jabs, he’s determined to take down The Beast.

Jenny Morrison vs Shania Lord

Manchester’s Jenny Morrison is stepping into the ring for UoL’s Psychology Society. Her mind games might come in handy, but will they be enough to secure a win?

Facing her is UoL Women’s Rugby’s Shania Lord. With years of tackling experience, she won’t back down from a fight. Expect an electrifying matchup!

Megan Daley vs Charlotte Blakeney

Megan Daley is bringing unmatched energy to Fight Night. Fighting independently without a society but with plenty of support, she’s earned the nickname The Destroyer.

Charlotte Blakeney, fighting for UoL Engineering Netball, has the fitting nickname Break A Knee. Hopefully, she won’t leave with one herself—unless she’s destined for a Rocky-style comeback.

Mia Aggarwal vs Scarlett Armstrong

The female fights keep heating up! Mia Aggarwal, known as Mimi No Mercy, is ready to dominate the ring.

Scarlett Armstrong, president of LUDSS, is dedicating her fight to Ethan Trickett. She carries the weight of an important cause and will undoubtedly have strong support from the crowd.

Marcus Turner-Wood vs Ethan Smith

Marcus Turner-Wood, aka Marcus Corrigan, is stepping into the ring solo, but his larger-than-life personality is sure to turn heads.

Ethan Smith, fighting under the name The Sniper, is all about precision. If his punches are as sharp as his nickname suggests, this could be a must-watch bout.

Zion Agbiji vs Liam Steel

Zion Agbiji is the second fighter from LJMU’s African Caribbean Society, competing under the name Kakarot—a tribute to Dragon Ball Z’s Goku. With confidence radiating off him, he’s one to watch.

His opponent, Liam Steel, has chosen the unexpected nickname Punchbag. Hopefully, that’s a reference to his opponent and not himself—he’ll need resilience to take on Kakarot.

Alex Barrie vs Caitlin James

Alex Barrie, fighting for UoL Hockey, is stepping in as The Lion—strong, fearless, and ready to dominate. She was the first fighter announced and remains a top contender.

Caitlin James, known as Lincredible, is bringing her own brand of chaos to the ring. Expect surprises from this determined fighter.

Ray Dowland vs Isaac Sephton

Ray Dowland is channeling boxing legend Sugar Ray, and he’s stepping into the ring with pure confidence. Fans can expect fireworks from him on March 13th.

Isaac Sephton, known as Big Jugs, is a gymfluencer with undeniable strength. With the UoL Politics Football team backing him, he’s a strong fan favorite.

Rooshy Patel vs Jack Neville

For the final bout of the night, UoL Rugby’s Rooshy Patel, nicknamed The Cobra, is expected to strike fast and hard. Fans are already calling for a first-round knockout.

Jack Neville, known as The Ripper, is bringing his own force to the fight. Representing Northern Ireland, he’s sure to have plenty of supporters in his corner.

The countdown begins

With all matchups announced, it’s time to start placing bets with your friends and securing your tickets—because they’ll sell out fast.

This year’s Fight Night isn’t just about boxing—it’s about supporting a great cause in memory of Ethan Trickett. With donations going to LUDSS and the JackTheLad Foundation, every punch thrown will help make a difference.

See you at The Olympia on March 13th for a night of electrifying action—you won’t want to miss it!
