After playing his first six seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Davis was traded to the Detroit Lions during the offseason. The Lions acquired him in exchange for a third-round pick, and he quickly became a key starter in their strong defense.

Appearing in 13 games, the veteran cornerback recorded two interceptions, 11 passes defended, one forced fumble, 56 tackles, two tackles-for-loss, and earned a 74.5 PFF grade, ranking 21st out of 118 qualified players. Detroit won 15 games but lost its first playoff matchup to the Washington Commanders.

Carlton Davis entered the NFL as a second-round pick in the 2018 draft. Selected by Tampa Bay, the Auburn alum made an immediate impact, playing in 13 games (12 starts) while tallying four passes defended, one forced fumble, 40 tackles, and one tackle-for-loss. After a similar 2019 campaign, he gained national attention when superstar quarterback Tom Brady joined the team in free agency.

In his first season with championship expectations, Davis played a vital role in one of the league’s top defenses. Starting 14 games, the defensive back totaled four interceptions, 18 passes defended, 68 tackles, and three tackles-for-loss. Despite not winning the NFC South, Tampa Bay won Super Bowl 55, defeating Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, and Drew Brees en route to the title.

Since entering the league, Carlton Davis has played in 89 games with 88 starts. Over that span, the Auburn product has accumulated 11 interceptions, 84 passes defended, four forced fumbles, and 380 total tackles.
