WEST FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – A former worker faces charges for allegedly embezzling thousands from the West Fargo Hockey Association.
Steven Lyon has been charged with felony theft exceeding $50,000, and a warrant for his arrest was issued in early March.
Authorities report that Lyon took approximately $68,000 from electronic gambling machines, with the theft uncovered during a financial audit.
Association leaders state that Lyon admitted to taking the funds and returned the money when confronted.
“We appreciate our auditor’s keen eye for detail and are grateful that our policies and procedures helped detect this quickly,” said West Fargo Hockey Association Executive Director Jeremy Jorgenson. “We also extend our thanks to the West Fargo Police Department for their thorough investigation after WFHA self-reported the incident.”
