Fury reveals big news, but a return to the boxing ring isn’t part of it.

Former WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury is set to step into the football world after it was announced that he will join Wayne Rooney as co-manager of the England team for this year’s Soccer Aid event.

This charity match, organized to support Unicef, will be held at Old Trafford, the stadium of Rooney’s former club, Manchester United, on Sunday, June 15.

When Queensberry Promotions shared a video hinting at a major Fury announcement, some speculated that the ‘Gypsy King’ was preparing to come out of retirement and return to boxing.

However, that was not the case, as Fury is instead eager to participate in an event at the club he passionately supports, Manchester United.

“The idea of leading my England team to victory this June excites me just as much as any heavyweight bout,” Fury stated.

“Everyone knows I’m a massive Manchester United supporter, so having the game at Old Trafford this year makes it even more special, especially as I get to manage one of my idols, Wayne Rooney.”

Fury stepped away from boxing in January after suffering two consecutive defeats to unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk last year.

Although some believe Fury may eventually return to the ring for a bout with Anthony Joshua, there have been no indications from his camp that such a fight will take place in 2025.
