Tyson Fury reverses retirement decision following major £106m Old Trafford revelation.

Boxing icon Tyson Fury is set to share managerial duties for the England team with former Manchester United player Wayne Rooney in Soccer Aid’s charity match, which supports Unicef’s efforts for children.

Rooney, 39, a legendary England striker, is preparing to make another appearance in the annual fundraiser. Although Fury, 36, announced his retirement from boxing earlier this year, the Gypsy King has hinted that he might step onto the field during the event.

Brimming with excitement, Fury declared, “Tyson Fury: England manager. Who would have thought it?” He added, “I’ve had some major fights in my career, and the thought of leading England to victory this June excites me just as much as any heavyweight bout.”

A devoted Manchester United supporter, Fury expressed extra joy over the match’s venue: “Everyone knows I’m a massive United fan, so having the game at Old Trafford this year makes it even more special. Plus, I get to manage one of my heroes, Wayne Rooney. How can we lose?”

Stressing the charity’s significance, he continued, “Unicef’s work around the world is incredible and essential. I hope you’ll join us and show your support this summer.”

Founded in 2006 by Unicef UK ambassador Robbie Williams, Soccer Aid has raised over £106 million for charity. The highly awaited match is set for June 15 at Old Trafford in Manchester.

The lineup for this year’s game features well-known figures like Paddy McGuinness, Gary Neville, musician Tom Grennan, reality star Sam Thompson, Olympian Sam Quek, entrepreneur Steven Bartlett, long-distance legend Sir Mo Farah, and One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson, according to Chronicle Live.

Rooney, former Plymouth Argyle manager, shared his enthusiasm about returning to Soccer Aid, saying, “I had such a great time last year that when I got the call for the 2025 match, it was an easy yes.”

Rooney also expressed his excitement about working with boxing champion Fury, as he is a huge fan of the sport. “I love boxing, so teaming up with Tyson Fury is amazing. It perfectly sums up what makes Soccer Aid so special. One thing’s for sure – we’re both taking it very seriously.”

Finally, Rooney highlighted the event’s charitable nature, stating, “Of course, it’s great to put the boots back on and see some familiar faces, but ultimately, the cause is what truly matters.”
