Duke Basketball Taunts UNC’s RJ Davis After Dominating Sweep

Duke Basketball Trolls UNC Guard RJ Davis After Super Sweep

The Duke basketball team didn’t seem overly concerned about the feelings of fifth-year Tar Heel RJ Davis.

With a 74-71 victory over the No. 5 seed Tar Heels (22-13) in the ACC Tournament semifinals on Friday, Duke completed its first 3-0 sweep of the rivalry with UNC since 2002.

The No. 1 seed Blue Devils (30-3), missing key players in Cooper Flagg (ankle) and Maliq Brown (shoulder), nearly blew a commanding 45-24 halftime lead. However, a crucial mistake by UNC at the free-throw line late in the game sealed Duke’s win.

Despite fifth-year UNC guard RJ Davis’s comments to ESPN on Thursday, the third match was not lucky for the Tar Heels against the Blue Devils.

In response, Duke’s basketball social media team shared a humorous locker room exchange between freshman teammates Patrick Ngongba II, who scored a career-best 12 points, and Isaiah Evans, who posted just two points as a starter in Flagg’s absence but took the opportunity to mock UNC.

Duke basketball will face the No. 2 seed Louisville Cardinals (28-6) in the ACC Tournament championship at 8:30 p.m. ET on Saturday (ESPN). The Blue Devils and Cardinals only met once this season, with Duke winning 76-65 on the road on Dec. 8.
