From March 18-21, a group of 14 BYU football players with dreams of reaching the NFL will travel to Texas, aiming to impress professional scouts at the Big 12 Pro Day.
Although the 2025 BYU Cougars do not boast a strong NFL draft class, with Tyler Batty currently the only player projected to be selected, other athletes still have an opportunity to capture the attention of NFL scouts before next month’s draft.
Here is the list of 14 BYU players heading to Texas in hopes of boosting their draft stock:
Offense: Gerry Bohanon, Caleb Etienne, Mason Fakahua, Keanu Hill, Brayden Keim, Darius Lassiter, Ray Paulo, Connor Pay.
Defense: Isaiah Bagnah, Tyler Batty, Marque Collins, Blake Mangelson, John Nelson, Jakob Robinson.
Now, let’s examine which of these players have the most to prove at Big 12 Pro Day:
Caleb Etienne, OT
A transfer from Oklahoma State, Etienne had a rough start in 2023 but bounced back with a dominant season at left tackle. The 6-foot-8, 320-pound lineman was named to the All-Big 12 First Team, highlighting his impressive performance. With ideal NFL size, a strong showing in speed, agility, and strength drills could push him into late-round draft discussions.
Jakob Robinson, CB
Despite earning an invite to the East-West Shrine Bowl, Robinson’s draft stock did not see a significant boost. The All-Big 12 Second Team cornerback and team captain stands at 5-foot-11 and 175 pounds, which is slightly undersized for an NFL defensive back. A standout performance at Pro Day could convince scouts that his speed and strength are sufficient for the next level.
Connor Pay, C
A team captain and All-Big 12 Honorable Mention, Pay had his final season disrupted by a foot injury that sidelined him for several games. The 6-foot-5, 315-pound center has the size, strength, and leadership qualities to earn an NFL opportunity. Scouts will evaluate both his on-field skills and off-field intelligence during Pro Day.
Darius Lassiter, WR
Standing at 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds, Lassiter possesses the physical tools of an NFL receiver. In his final season at BYU, he was a co-captain and earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention after recording 45 catches for 703 yards and four touchdowns. If he can showcase impressive speed at Pro Day, he could draw interest from NFL teams as an undrafted free agent.
