Detroit Lions Retain Playmakers: Craig Reynolds, Pat O’Connor Return for Another Season
On March 18, 2025, the Detroit Lions announced the re-signing of two key players: running back Craig Reynolds and defensive lineman Pat O’Connor.
Craig Reynolds
Reynolds, 28, has been a reliable contributor to the Lions’ backfield since joining the team in 2021. Initially signed as an undrafted free agent by Washington in 2019, Reynolds found a stable role in Detroit. Over 48 games with the Lions, he has accumulated 650 rushing yards and one touchdown on 150 carries, averaging 4.3 yards per carry. In the 2024 season, Reynolds recorded 139 rushing yards on 31 attempts and added 40 receiving yards on three catches. His consistent performance and versatility have solidified his position as a valuable depth player in the Lions’ running back rotation.
Pat O’Connor
O’Connor, 31, rejoined the Lions during training camp in 2024 after spending seven seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Despite not making the initial 53-man roster, he was promoted from the practice squad in Week 7 and played in 12 games before an injury sidelined him in the final game of the season. Throughout those games, O’Connor recorded 18 tackles, one sack, and two tackles for loss. His ability to play both defensive end and nose tackle has been praised by coaches, highlighting his versatility and work ethic.
These re-signings reflect the Lions’ commitment to maintaining a strong and versatile roster as they prepare for the upcoming season.
