Denver Nuggets Lakers Los Angeles Lakers NBA

Luka Dončić’s injury status clarified for upcoming game against the Nuggets.

The Los Angeles Lakers have recently dropped in the Western Conference standings due to a series of significant injuries. However, the team received a boost this weekend when four players returned to the lineup in their victory over the Phoenix Suns. Luka Doncic, who has been listed on the Lakers’ injury report in recent days, is listed once again ahead of the team’s game against the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday.

Doncic has officially been marked as probable on the Lakers’ injury report as they prepare for the matchup against the Nuggets.

Doncic has been dealing with multiple injuries. He’s still managing the calf strain he sustained on Christmas Day while playing for the Dallas Mavericks, which kept him sidelined until February 10 when he made his debut for the Lakers.

More recently, Doncic is also dealing with a right ankle sprain, which is the reason he’s on the injury report. After the Lakers’ win over the Suns on Sunday, Doncic spoke briefly about playing through these injuries and working towards returning to his usual level of performance.

“Yeah, I’m obviously getting there. But like I always say, every day I’m feeling better,” Doncic said. “Physically I’ve got my knee that hyperextended my ankle again, but I’m good.”

With the Nuggets visiting, and with the Western Conference playoff race tightening, the Lakers will need Doncic to perform at his best. Doncic has also discussed how Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets remain a serious threat in the West.

Doncic has played in 15 games for the Lakers since the trade, averaging just over 34 minutes per game. He has posted averages of 26.2 points, 8.8 rebounds, 8.1 assists, and 1.9 steals with shooting splits of 40 percent from the field, 33.6 percent from beyond the arc, and 77.6 percent from the free-throw line.

Trey Jemison was also listed on the Lakers’ injury report as questionable due to illness, while LeBron James and Rui Hachimura remain out.
