The Detroit Lions have kept a low profile this offseason, but Terrion Arnold had a firm message for fans questioning Brad Holmes.
So far, Detroit has made few major moves in free agency or trades, frustrating some fans.
After winning a second straight NFC North title, the Lions fell short in the playoffs, leaving many to wonder if they should be more aggressive in their pursuit of a Super Bowl. While it hasn’t happened yet, players aren’t worried about the lack of activity.
Cornerback Terrion Arnold, who joined the team in last year’s draft, pointed out on social media that there’s still plenty of time for Brad Holmes to make key roster moves.
Holmes has transformed the Lions from an afterthought into a contender in just three years by staying true to his philosophy. Instead of spending big on free agents, the team has relied on the draft for talent. While another key signing could happen, Detroit may once again look to the draft in 2025. Arnold’s message reflects this reality.
For Arnold, the upcoming season is crucial. After a rookie year filled with highs and lows, the Lions expect him to take a major leap in his second season. To achieve that, he must dedicate himself to improving his skills throughout the offseason.
So far, he’s on the right track. Arnold recently showcased his offseason training, proving his commitment to bouncing back from the Lions’ disappointing playoff exit.
Despite recording 60 tackles and no interceptions in 2024, there’s optimism about Arnold’s future. New teammate D.J. Reed praised him after signing with Detroit, believing Arnold has the potential for a standout career.
“He’s still young. It was his rookie year. I thought Terrion (Arnold) played well. Obviously, he was handsy, but that’s something you can correct. That’s totally fixable. As for talent and coverage ability, there’s a reason he was a first-round pick. I think he’s a Pro Bowl, All-Pro caliber player.”
Beyond his skills, Arnold has emerged as a mature leader. Right now, he’s urging fans to trust their successful general manager’s vision.
