Coventry City goalkeeper Oliver Dovin has credited Frank Lampard for the impact he has had since becoming the club’s manager, with all players now having a clear understanding of their roles.
Lampard took over from Mark Robins in late November and has since led a remarkable turnaround, with Coventry now occupying a playoff position in the Championship.
This is a significant improvement, considering the club was sitting in 17th place when the former Everton and Chelsea manager arrived.
Currently on international duty with Sweden, Coventry goalkeeper Dovin emphasized how much Lampard’s appointment has meant to both the squad and the club.
Dovin believes the 46-year-old has provided the club with clear direction, ensuring the players fully understand his vision and playing style.
“He has meant a lot. Since he arrived, it feels like we know exactly what to do,” the goalkeeper told Swedish outlet Fotbollskanalen. “We have adjusted some principles in our game and can now adapt to different styles of play.”
“He is an excellent coach and fits in well with the group. We have a strong team spirit.”
The 22-year-old also vowed to fight until the very end to secure a playoff spot, as Coventry aim for a historic promotion to the Premier League.
However, he remains cautious, acknowledging that nothing has been accomplished yet.
“Yes, absolutely. We’re battling at the top.
“We will give everything to achieve success.
“We have put ourselves in a great position to fight for it.
“But there is still a long way to go.”
In the 21 Championship matches under Lampard’s leadership, Coventry has secured an impressive 13 victories and three draws.
With only eight games remaining this season, Coventry will need to maintain their playoff position to keep t
heir promotion hopes alive.
