Who is Cooper Flagg’s brother? Meet the 3-star basketball recruit following in Duke star’s footsteps

The Duke Blue Devils are a top contender in the 2025 NCAA Tournament, which kicks off on Thursday. Duke, fresh off winning the ACC Tournament last week, secured a No. 1 seed in the East Region and will play their first game on Friday afternoon.

A standout on this Duke roster is freshman Cooper Flagg, who leads the team with 18.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. Although he sustained an ankle injury in the ACC tournament’s opening round against Georgia Tech, he’s expected to be ready for Duke’s March Madness campaign.

You may not know, however, that Cooper has a brother, Ace Flagg, who also plays basketball. Here’s everything you need to know about the twin brother of the future No. 1 pick.

Who is Ace Flagg?

Ace is Cooper’s twin brother and a class of 2025 recruit. He played alongside Cooper for three years at Nokomis High School in Newport, Maine before both brothers transferred to Montverde Academy in Florida for the 2023 season. After Cooper moved to Duke, Ace transferred to Greensboro Day School in North Carolina for his senior year.

According to 247Sports, Ace is a 3-star recruit, ranked 61st among power forwards and 20th overall in North Carolina. Although both brothers were initially set to be in the class of 2025, Cooper reclassified two years ago to join the 2024 class and play at Duke earlier.

In October 2024, Ace committed to the University of Maine, where his mother, Kelly Bowman-Flagg, also played basketball. Despite offers from West Virginia and George Washington, Ace signed with the Bears. The Flagg family hails from Newport, Maine, located just under 40 miles from the University of Maine.

How does Ace Flagg compare to Cooper?

Cooper stands two inches taller than Ace, who is 6-foot-7 and weighs 180 pounds. Cooper is also around 25 pounds lighter than Ace. The brothers also differ significantly in their recruit rankings. Cooper was the No. 1 overall prospect in the class of 2024, as well as the top power forward.

Last season, Ace played 18 games, scoring 69 points on 27-of-50 shooting, according to MaxPreps.
