BYU Basketball Gears Up for NCAA Tournament Second Round
DENVER – BYU basketball is advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Who will they face next?
The No. 3 seed Wisconsin Badgers from the Big Ten Conference.
Wisconsin defeated Montana 85-66 on Thursday to secure their spot in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The BYU vs. Wisconsin game will tip-off at 5:45 p.m. (MDT) and will be broadcast nationally on CBS. The game will take place at Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado, home to the Denver Nuggets.
This marks the first time BYU basketball has made it to the Round of 32 since 2011. BYU defeated VCU 80-71 on Thursday.
BYU Basketball to Face Wisconsin Badgers in the 2025 NCAA Tournament
BYU basketball is 0-2 all-time against Wisconsin. The most recent meeting between the teams was in 2011 in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, where Wisconsin won 73-56.
The teams first played each other in 1931 in Madison.
Wisconsin enters the game with a 27-9 record this season and is currently ranked No. 13 in the KenPom ratings.
The Badgers are led by head coach Greg Gard, who is in his 10th season at the helm. Wisconsin is aiming for its first Sweet 16 appearance since 2017, while BYU has not reached the regional semifinal since 2011.
“I don’t know a whole lot about them. I know they score a lot of points,” BYU head coach Kevin Young said about Wisconsin. “I know they have a team where almost everyone can shoot the three. We’ll need to focus on how exactly we want to defend them.
“My coaching staff has been working hard to ensure our scout is ready. I’ve seen they’ve had some really high-scoring games, and I’m eager to dive into the film and put together a solid game plan.”
