The Detroit Lions have been active this offseason, but one key area they still need to strengthen is the pass rush opposite Aidan Hutchinson. Some expect the Lions to re-sign Za’Darius Smith, while others think they’ll draft an EDGE rusher in 2025. I believe they’ll do both.
However, could Detroit also make a trade to enhance their pass rush? That’s what a recent Bleacher Report article proposed.
Maurice Moton of Bleacher Report suggested the Lions should consider acquiring Eagles pass rusher Bryce Huff. Huff didn’t dominate in his first season with Philadelphia—missing five games and recording just 2.5 sacks—but he has shown glimpses of disruption.
Moton’s trade proposal? Detroit would send a 2025 fourth-round pick and a seventh-rounder to Philadelphia in exchange for Huff. It’s a low-risk, high-reward move that could strengthen the Lions’ defensive line.
As Moton noted, Detroit’s pass rush behind Hutchinson is uncertain. Za’Darius Smith is still unsigned, and while Marcus Davenport was re-signed, he has struggled with injuries since joining the Lions.
Adding a player like Huff would give Detroit another asset to pressure quarterbacks. He’s young, has potential, and might excel with a strong defensive front.
The Lions are close, but to make a deep playoff run, they must disrupt opposing quarterbacks. Trading for Huff could be the under-the-radar move that helps them take the next step.
