Cooper Flagg Bleeds After Taking Eye Poke Early Against Baylor

Cooper Flagg Poked in the Eye and Bleeding Early in Game Against Baylor

Cooper Flagg wasn’t about to let an eye poke hinder his performance.

Duke star Cooper Flagg had a brief scare early in Sunday’s game against No. 9 Baylor after taking a swipe to the face from an opposing player while the ball was loose, resulting in an eye poke.

While fighting for a rebound early in the first half with Baylor forward Norchad Omier, Flagg caught a hand to the face, causing immediate swelling in his right eye.

During the break in play, Flagg received treatment on the Duke bench. According to CBS courtside reporter Tracy Wolfson, Flagg was bleeding slightly above the eye, but it was clear he was determined to return to the game.

This marks the second injury scare for Flagg in the past two weeks, although it seems he’ll escape this one with minimal issues.

Flagg had previously missed significant time during Duke’s ACC tournament run due to an ankle injury. He made his return on Friday in Duke’s first-round game against No. 16 Mount St. Mary’s, where they dominated with a 93-49 victory.
