Dallas cowboys

The Cowboys are reportedly set to meet with an NFL Draft RB prospect who has developed a strong connection to Dallas.

After losing Rico Dowdle to the Carolina Panthers in NFL free agency, the Dallas Cowboys need to continue strengthening their running back group.

Dallas brought in veterans Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders during the first week of free agency but could still benefit from selecting a star featured back in the NFL Draft.

With a deep running back class this year, many options are available, and a new candidate has emerged.

SMU Mustangs standout Brashard Smith recently announced that he will visit the Cowboys for a “Dallas Day,” an event for local prospects.

Smith completed his final year of college eligibility with the Mustangs after starting his career as a wide receiver for the Miami Hurricanes.

In 2024, Smith earned first-team All-ACC honors.

Last season, Smith rushed for 1,332 yards and 14 touchdowns, while also adding 39 catches for 327 yards and four more scores.

Thanks to his versatility, Smith is an exciting prospect who could help complete the Cowboys’ backfield.

The 2025 NFL Draft will take place in Green Bay, Wisconsin, with the first round on Thursday, April 24. Rounds 2 and 3 will be held on Friday, April 25, and the remaining rounds will conclude on Saturday, April 26.
