Alex Anzalone of the Lions Shares Shocking Stat, 9-Word Message Pre-Draft

The Detroit Lions’ defense will see major changes this season as Aaron Glenn departs for New York and new defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard takes over. The Lions’ defense showed glimpses of dominance last season before injuries took a toll, preventing them from sustaining their success.

On Wednesday, Alex Anzalone, a team leader, former Florida Gators star, and Lions fan favorite, made a statement about his importance to the team amid swirling NFL draft rumors.

Anzalone shared a video of game highlights and stats ranking NFL players with the most man coverage snaps last season.

Anzalone led all players with at least 150 man coverage snaps, showcasing his versatility. “No other LB asked to do what I do,” Anzalone wrote in his retweet.

The timing of his post is notable, as the 2025 NFL Draft is less than a month away.

The Lions have been linked to potential Anzalone replacements, but he is still expected to start under Sheppard and head coach Dan Campbell next season.

Anzalone signed a three-year, $18.75 million contract extension in March 2023 to remain with Detroit for the long term.
