Duke Basketball Prize Secures Blue Devils Third Consecutive National Honor
Cameron Boozer, an incoming Duke basketball star, added another accolade to his list by being named the Gatorade National Basketball Player of the Year.
At the end of each high school basketball season, Gatorade recognizes the top player from every state in the U.S. Additionally, they honor a National Player of the Year.
Duke basketball has seen its fair share of Gatorade National Player of the Year recipients, with notable names like Jabari Parker, Jayson Tatum, RJ Barrett, and Cooper Flagg earning this honor over the past 15 years.
However, it seems the Blue Devils are about to welcome a new player to this prestigious group, but with an achievement that sets him apart from the rest.
On Wednesday, Cameron Boozer, who is part of Duke’s 2025 recruiting class, was named the Gatorade National Player of the Year. This marks the third consecutive year a future Blue Devil has earned this prestigious title, with the previous recipient being Cameron Boozer himself in 2023.
Boozer, who committed to Duke alongside his twin brother Cayden Boozer in October, becomes only the fourth player in history to win the award twice. The others to achieve this feat are LeBron James, Greg Oden, and Brandon Knight, all of whom went on to be top 10 NBA Draft picks.
He is the standout recruit in head coach Jon Scheyer’s top-ranked 2025 class, which also includes three other standout players: five-star guard Cayden Boozer from Columbus High School (Fla.), five-star forward Shelton Henderson from Bellaire High School (Texas), and five-star forward Nikolas Khamenia from Harvard Westlake (Calif.).
