Tim Boyle, a former backup quarterback for the Detroit Lions, has signed with the Tennessee Titans.
The 30-year-old played for the Miami Dolphins and New York Giants last season, appearing in three games. Since leaving Detroit in 2021, Boyle has started twice and played in 10 games with Chicago, both New York teams, and Miami.
Boyle began his career with the Green Bay Packers before joining the Lions for parts of 2021 and 2022. In 2021, he started three games for Detroit, throwing three touchdowns and six interceptions in three losses.
The Lions cut him after camp in 2022, and he spent time on their practice squad before the Bears signed him.
Boyle now joins another interesting situation, as the Titans have first-round quarterback Will Levis and hold the top pick in this year’s draft, with many expecting them to select Miami (FL) quarterback Cam Ward.
Meanwhile, Detroit’s quarterback room consists of Jared Goff, Hendon Hooker, Kyle Allen, and Jake Fromm.
Goff is the franchise leader, Hooker enters his third year as a former third-round pick, Allen adds experience and competition, and Fromm signed a futures deal after spending a full season on the practice squad.
