Texas A&M earns first SEC victory with Moss’ standout effort
Texas A&M earns first SEC win with Moss’ solid performance
The starting pitching for Texas A&M has been a bright spot in a season where the Aggies struggled in their first two Southeastern Conference series.
On Friday, the Aggies secured their first conference win, edging Kentucky 9-7, as the offense provided ample support for starter Ryan Prager.
A&M found itself trailing 7-1 after four innings in the series opener, with Prager giving up six earned runs on eight hits before being replaced after three innings of work.
However, the Aggie offense came alive in the bottom of the fourth, sparked by a two-run home run from A&M catcher Bear Harrison. Harrison finished the night 2 for 3, driving in three RBIs and scoring a run.
A&M then scored five runs in the fifth inning and added another in the sixth.
Terrence Kiel II, A&M’s right fielder, closely matched Harrison’s performance with a 2 for 3 outing that included two RBIs. He also hit two doubles and scored twice.
Weston Moss provided relief on the mound, throwing six shutout innings, allowing only three hits, and striking out six batters.
